Raindrops on roses

and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things
Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things
When the dog bitesWhen the bee stings
When I'm feeling sadI simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad.

I have been posting about things I hate recently so I figure I should post about things that I like. The only reason I am doing this is because The Office comes on tonight and that makes me happy.

I like sports. A lot of things about sports frustrate me but I still like them. It is all I did and cared about growing up and things aren't that much different now. I no longer have the ability to play sports but I love to watch them, talk about them, blog about them and do just about anything else that has to do with them.

I like Alabama football. My dad is a Bama fan so I have been since birth. Things have been hard over the last few years but I still like nothing better on a Saturday afternoon than cheering for the Crimson Tide. Nothing puts that feeling in my stomach like the words, "The 3rd Saturday in October" or "The Iron Bowl."

I like the Titans. Again things have been down recently but I still spend 3 hours every Sunday, except this one because it is the bye week, watching the Titans. I like that the Titans drafted VY. I think he is going to be a star in the NFL and, if nothing else, he is a lot of fun to watch.

I like Music City Miracles. I am not sure how many people read it besides my dad and DonFrancisco but I still enjoy "blogging" about the team everyday. It makes me feel that I have a little extra stake in the team.

I like the Cubs. Based on my choices of sports teams you can see why I am so angry. Baseball is my favorite of all the sports and I will support the Cubs in a year like 2003 or a year like 2006. I will sit down and watch every minute of every game when I get the chance and cheer for them even if they are 20.5 games behind the Cardinals, whom I hate. (sorry still a little angry)

Tonight I love the Mets. I am happy every year when the Cardinals are at home and I know that I am not going to have to listen to a couple of annoying Cardinal fans that I play softball with brag about how good the Cards are. LET'S GO METS!!

Great Article

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=lukas/061018&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1

Page2 on ESPN.com can often be annoying or is usually only good in small doses. However, I LOVE UNIWATCH. It is always interesting. This weeks is even better. I don't want to ruin it all, but it has a HUGE Bill Buckner story, and it mentions Lipscomb University.

I hate the Ravens

That picture is awesome.

I am filled with a lot of hate in my life if you cannot tell. I told you last week about how and why I hate the Yankees. I actually hate the Ravens more than I hate the Yankees. It has been tough for me this year because Steve McNair is one of my all time favorite players and now he plays for the Ravens. I have to just be neutral this year because I can't bring myself to cheer for the Ravens.

One thing that blows my mind is the fact that guys like Derrick Mason, Samari Rolle and Steve McNair can go play for the Ravens. There are 2 teams the Titans hate; the Colts and the Ravens. Back in the day where McNair, Mason, and Rolle were in their prime as the faces of the Titans the Ravens were no doubt the team they hated the most. Brian Billick cried because when the Ravens played at the Coliseum the Titans played clips of crap Billick had talked about the Titans. I guess the allmighty dollar speaks more than what is said on and off the field.

The reason I bring this up today is because Billick fired offensive coordinator Jim Fassel. Billick will take over the play calling duties. Billick is an ego maniac who is and always has been overrated. Billick came to the Ravens from the Vikings and was billed an "offensive genious." Since he has been with the Ravens he has been praised for dialing down his offense to let the defense win games. That is just stupid. Don't you think if he was an "offensive genious" the Ravens would be an unstoppable powerhouse? Think about it. Great defenses and an offense run by a genious could add up to nothing but Super Bowl titles on top of Super Bowl titles. I know he won one but that was just because of his defense and his playoff MVP Al Del Greco. Billick has been through 68 QB's since he has been in Baltimore and none of them have been any good. Billick made this move today in hopes that it will save his job. If Art Modell had half a clue he would have already fired Billick. The excuse has been the bad QB's. My questions is; Why can't Billick mold QB's? Any suggestions?

Someone posted annonymously yesterday that the Cubs are trash. Be a man and put your name on it.

Monday Monday Monday

When will the love affair with Tim Tebow stop? Don't get me wrong, I think he is going to be a stud. The thing is he hasn't done anything yet. Vern Lundquist, while announcing the Ole Miss vs. Alabama game, mentioned Tim Tebow twice. Maybe I missed something but I think he plays for Florida. The ESPN announcers Saturday night referred to him as "The Phenom Tim Tebow." I don't know if anyone else has noticed this or not but THEY DON'T EVEN LET TEBOW THROW THE BALL!! Let's see him complete some passes before we annoint him the second coming of Vince Young. (ha ha)

Well my Cubbies went out and decided to prove why they haven't won a World Series in 1,022 years. They hired Lou Pinella. Isn't he just Dusty Baker with a different color skin? Let's think about it; he hates young players, he hires all his boys as assistant coaches and he abuses pitchers. This is bad news for Marcia. Prior. I guess we will have to sit through another year of her injuries. At least Dusty's players liked him. This will end badly and will probably make Fatty Hendry lose his job. I guess it isn't all bad.

What about that FIU vs. Miami brawl? I was shocked to see Miami in a brawl. The most disturbing thing about it is, to this point the only suspensions are one game. Some kid came running in hitting people with his helmet and he only gets one game?!? That is just as bad as what Fat Albert did and maybe even worse. R.I.P Larry Coker.

BCS..more like BCStupid

BCS=RIDICULOUS

I know that it doesn't really matter right at this point, but the initial BCS standings are terrible. This is usually the case every single year that the BCS has been in place, but I am getting tired of it.

BCS Standings:
1 Ohio State .9731
2 USC .9559
3 Michigan .9341
4 Auburn .7478
5 West Virginia .7446
6 Florida .7375
7 Louisville .7176
8 Notre Dame .6939
9 Texas .6841
10 California .6682
11 Tennessee .6526
12 Clemson .5042
13 Arkansas .4714
14 Oregon.4492
15 Boise State .4319
16 Rutgers .3951
17 Nebraska .3544
18 LSU .3495
19 Georgia Tech .3395
20 Boston College .2587
21 Wisconsin .2539
22 Oklahoma .1581
23 Iowa .0703
24 Missouri .0680
25 Tulsa .0639

Does anything not look right to you? Here's a hint:

So, you do agree. UT should NOT be ranked behind Cal, the team that UT beat 35-17 the first week of the season. And that score looks a lot better than the game was. UT was up 35-0. How can you have a team that got WHOOPED ahead of the team that WHOOPED it? You can throw out all of the talk about strength of schedule and all of that other crap, because it is just crap. Sorry for my foul language.

Until we get a playoff system for NCAA football, it will always be a flawed system. I think we should just devote this website to petition for the NCAA to begin a playoff for D-1 football. Who's with me?

Good Thing We Took Adam

Antrel Rolle was fined $12,500 for a play where he tackled Larry Johnson by his facemask. It is the second time this year he has been fined for an on the field incident. He was fined for a "horse-collar" tackle earlier this year. More on that in a minute. Man I am so glad we don't have that guy on our team. Think about the distractions he has been causing making plays on the field. Floyd Reese was right. Adam Jones has done nothing but be the model citizen, has 6 INTs and leads the league in punt return yards. (please note that everything in that last sentence is entirely false)

I have a few things to say about the so called "horse-collar rule." That is the biggest bunch of crap rule that has ever been introduced. How are you supposed to tackle a guy from behind? Try to wrap his legs up and get kicked in the face or try to tackle him high and just get shaken off. It isn't bad enough that it is a penalty but then they fine guys for it. The NFL is stupid. I think they should shut the league dow. (I don't mean that either)

Dear Mr Hendry,

Please hire Joe Girardi and not Lou Pinella. (unless you think hiring Pinella would help you bring A-Rod to Chicago)

The Office Day

I do know who I would have to petition to have Thursday officially changed to "The Office Day" but I would like to do it. What else do we have to look forward to on a Thursday? Thursday night football is usually terrible, although they do have a good match-up tonight with Va Tech at BC. The answer to the question is The Office on NBC. If you don't watch this show you have no idea what you are missing. It is the funniest thing that has been on TV since Seinfeld ended. Seriously.

The Cubs are still spinning their wheels on a manager but reports in Chicago today say Hendry is leaning toward Pinella because he gives them a better chance to win quicker. That is crap. Girardi was in the Wild Card hunt with a team that had a $15 million dollar payroll. $15 million. Aramis Ramirez will probably make $15 million next year by himself. Hendry should have been fired with Baker. He is an idiot who has no idea how to spend money. Maybe if the Trib would take away his money and force him to win with prospects for 1 season it would teach him a lesson. Probably not though.

Dear Mr Hendry,

Please hire Joe Girardi and not Lou Pinella. (unless you think hiring Pinella would help you bring A-Rod to Chicago)

Hope for a New Day Tomorrow

The one positive thing about this baseball postseason as a Cubs fan is the Tigers give us all hope. Think about how bad the Tigers were 2 years ago. They lost 119 games. 119 games. Let that sink in for a minute. That is the most losses by an American League team EVER! This year the Tigers are 3 wins away from the World Series. This gives hope to all of us who think our team is still many years away. The Cubs were really bad this year but the didn't lose 100 games. As HBO said about the Cubs, Wait Till Next Year.

Here is some good news for DonFrancisco who is a Rangers fan. The last 2 teams that fired Buck Showalter won the World Series the year after he was fired. The Texas Rangers are your 2007 World Series Champions. Hopefully the Cubs will hire Showalter for 2007 and then fire him. That sounds like just about as good of a plan as any the Cubs have had in the last 98 years.

I will end every post with this until the Cubs hire a manager.

Dear Mr. Hendry,

Please hire Joe Girardi and not Lou Pinella. (unless you think hiring Pinella would help you bring A-Rod to Chicago)

Jimmy

I hate the Yankees

First off I would like to apologize to Kayne for "stealing his thunder." All I care about is the success of this blog. I had given up because no one has had posted. Once he posted it lit my fire. Kayne, I was in no way attempting to steal your fire. Please accept this deep heartfelt apology.

Your friend and co-blogger,
Jimmy

Let me tell you why I hate the Yankees.

I hate the Yankees because the media loves them. ESPN shows every Yankees game in prime time. If it is a Yankees vs. Red Sox game they dedicate Sportscenter to it. Why? No one outside of the Northeast cares. People might have cared when the curse was still alive. It is dead. Move on.

I hate the Yankees because Steinbrenner is a moron. He fired Billy Martin and rehired him 1,022 times. That is stupid. If you want to fire Torre then just go ahead and do it. Stop leaking reports that you are going to and then going back on that. You are already in the news. You don't need to pull that crap.

I hate the Yankees because they spend $200 million a year on payroll and still don't win. This causes people to call talk shows and complain about how they don't like baseball because the Yankees have all this money and they always win. When the World Series is over this year 7 teams will have won a World Series since the Yankees did. If you don't want to like baseball that is fne but come up with a reason that makes sense.

I hate the Yankees because they are bad for baseball. I don't think they are bad for baseball because they spend so much money but because all anyone is talking about this week is the Torre soap opera. Someone needs to tell ESPN the playoffs aren't over just because the Yankees are out.

It is no wonder they never win because they have a bunch of cry babies and a fake leader in Derek Jeter. If he was a leader he would have stepped up to get the media and the fans of A-Rod's back. He didn't do that because he doesn't like A-Rod. Sounds like a me guy instead of a team guy. I hope Tim McCarver doesn't read this. He might cry.

Who knew?

Who knew I would become an author. I haven't posted here since the last time the Titans won a game. Wait, no it hasn't been nearly that long.

This will be a post of random thoughts so buckle up.

I really hope the Yankees fire Torre. It is for a different reason that you might think though. Of course I hate the Yankees but I kinda like Torre. The reason I hope Torre is fired is so Big Stein will hire Lou Pinella. Why do I care about that? I'll tell you. I don't want Pinella to manage the Cubs. He will just bring in his buddies like Baker did and we will have a similar situation to the last couple of years. The Cubs need new blood and Girardi is that man. I could be a political advisor. Speaking of politics, have you people seen Harold Ford Jr.? Tell me he isn't the love child of A-Rod and Jeter. He looks just like a cross between them in true Brooks-Megan fashion.

Does anyone watch CBS Saturday afternoon SEC football? I think they should rename it the Tim Tebow love show. I am surprised that Verne Lundquist hasn't run on the field yet to try and make out with Tebow. It will happen before Tebow graduates though. This just in, Chris Leak is a sissy.

That is all for now. I will do my best to keep more updated on this site. It is more fun to write here than on Music City Miracles. That site is great though and you really should check it out.

Rocky Top!!!!

What a great day it was today....I woke up and the memory of UT scoring 51 on the "SEC's best defense" was fresh on my mind. Being a UT fan living in GA, nothing is sweeter than beating the hated Bulldogs(I refuse to spell Bulldogs the way that those UGA people spell it).

Living only 45 minutes from Athens, one would think that I would have made the drive there to cheer on my Vols...but you would think wrong. That is the one stadium in the entire nation that I will never ever go to because I fear for my safety, and for the safety of my friends and family. Here is a taste of what I missed by not going last night--these are from other UT fans that attended the game:

"i've made a lot of road trips (2nd time to UGA, been to florida twice, bama twice, ole miss, lsu, auburn, ky, vandy, and south carolina twice), the georgia fans yesterday were as bad as i've ever experienced, as a whole.at florida (whose fans are considered the worst in the SEC by many), you could see that in general that they were good people...just tryin to have a good time and drink some good beer with a few really bad apples thrown in that like to heckle the opposing fans in fun (opposing fans usually just don't know how to take it and get offended/take them seriously too often).at georgia they were all bad, with a few good apples thrown in. i saw countless fights (most were Ga fans vs. Ga fans)...only saw one actual fistfight with a UT fan and a GA fan. in general, their fans were obnoxious, rude, and mean as heck (wanted to fight everything in sight). in the stadium hallways before the kickoff, i saw two UGA/UGA fights, there was a HUGE logjam where numerous shoving matches broke out, a strangulation occurred, and girls were just getting tossed out of the way by MEN. they were balling their eyes out and the men just continued to knock them around like they weren't even there.normally, i like to have my share (plus another couple people's share) of drinks before the game. in athens yesterday, i had to REALLY watch what i drank because i honestly feared for my saftey and knew i had to REALLY keep myself in check around those pricks.granted, there were a few fans that came up and apologized for the crude behavior of their fellow bulldog fans after the game...and the people we tailgated with and around were great....i've never seen so many fans that wanted to fight...and they didn't care who they fought...GA fan, UT fan, old woman with a walker, man in wheelchair...it didn't matter. i'm a fairly good size guy (6'2, 180) and was with some pretty good sized guys...so for the most part people didn't really talk @&#* directly to us...i saw more than my share of it.i was punched yesterday (a GA fan swung and missed at another GA fan in that mess out in the hallway), told by a guy that looked like a small mountain (literally probably 6'8, 320), that if i sang rocky top 1 more time, i was going to be eating concrete (and he was dead serious...but i kept singing...just not quite so loud), his wife told me to #$@! myself after a UGA girl fell into me on a touchdown celebration and i spilled maybe 2 drops of coke on her BLANKET (which was folded on the back of her seat...had not been used the entire game), and was yelled at 100s of times after the game.normally, i can take the verbal abuse...because i know it's all in good fun and they're just giving me heck in good spirits....the ga fans yesterday that i encountered had no good spirits about them. easily the worst fans that i've ever been in contact with.most fans i've been around on the road in the SEC take it upon themselves to make sure the visitors enjoy their trip and have a good time (i've gotten free food/beer/drinks/etc on every road trip i've ever been on and had a great time with fans from every school i've ever been to.....i really have). i thought that was the goal....not see how many fights you can start, etc???"

Another excerpt from a different UT fan: "We had a pretty rough time on the walk to the stadium. We walked from the Ramsey Center to the game, had about 3-4 fight close calls. TimmyV1987 or whatever got sucker punched from behind, but that kid got dealt with after that. Then some jort wearer swung a bag of trash at him, and Timmy went up to the kid and smashed the handle of whiskey out of his hand and walked away.We had multiple 40+ year olds trying to challenge us to fights."

And another, "On fri night we walked around their bars and found that in most places people were buttholes. We also saw a fight break out in the middle of an intersection btwn a couple of ut fans and UGAY fans. A UGAY girl took the ut guys oakleys from him, snaped them and threw them on the ground. Then the guy picked them up and peged them at her. she then went to throw a punch and he blocked her and that threw her flat on her butt. Her boyfriend then and the ut guy started to fight in the intersection."

Not done yet, "Had 2 guys tell me they were gonna beat my (tail) and a handful of other people make comments about Tennessee rednecks. I had a couple of other people tell me that they would be signing my paycheck when they graduated. I mean they think UGA is Harvard or something and UT is a community school."

Still more, "I saw 6 or 7 fights after the game. An all out "RIOT" downtown with about 25 to 30 people and no police showed up!!! Mostly Georgia fans, but it was the most classless bunch of fans I have ever been around."

That's all...wait no it's not, "I was sittng at an outside bar on broad street yesterday drinkin a beer and smoking a cigar minding my own business and trying to watch the FL-LSU game through the bar window and a UGA girl walks up starts yelling at me and knocks the cigar, (A fuente fuente Opus X by the way), out of my hand and starts yelling and cussing at me. The walk to the game was not to bad. The game was pretty bad. They are just obnoxious. Young, old, male, female, drunk, sober it does not matter most UGA fans are just awful. When they were up 17 and they thought they had the game won they were just unrelenting and up in your face. I was in the restroom line at halftime and I was speaking with a another Vol fan who told me we were trouble I said were just down 10 and I was worried but lets see what happens and we are still in the game. An UGA fan overheard me and starts screaming the we are *^$#*@ and UGA is kicking our !## and there is no way we could compete with the Dogs. I sure would have liked to see him after the game. The amazing thing is that after the game they were just as obnoxius screaming curse words, yelling go dogs, telling Tennessee fans to go back to their trailer park etc."

This is not indicative of all UGA fans, but I don't know if I have ever met a UGA fan that is humble and not annoying when it comes their football. In fact, my little brother is a UGA fan. He actually took me down last night as I was celebrating the punt block recovered for a TD. I did not even see it coming. I am jumping up and down, next thing I know, I was tackled to the couch. Oh yeah, my brother is 10.

I like what someone on Volquest (UT's Rival.com website) said earlier this week..."Richt does not own Fulmer, Richt owned (former OC Randy) Sanders." I think that is exactly right.

Here's to another 9 straight wins vs. the Evil Empire that is UGA!!
